In a small village of france,former head of the European corps of enginers jose marie perizau was in the fields.
His wife directed eller and styles to where he was. He had become a farmer.
“Leftent colnel parizou!”eller said.”i am not a leftenent colnel any more! Call me jose!”perizau said. ” Look i am putting together a team to investigate the disapearence of a probe on the outor rim. We need a chief enginer ! I would like you to assume that role. “Styles said.
“My days in space are over! I perfer my gardens. Humanity is not ready for the stars. A hundred years perhaps mayby sooner. It is not time!”he said in a french accent of English.
“I can’t agree. If not now,when? We are at a turning point mr. Parizue! I fear that we may turn inward. I am pleased with what humanity has accomplished. We need to take that next step! “Eller said.
“Your probe. It was mostlikly a malfunction !”the french engineer commented. “Perhaps ! That is why we are going ! We want the best. We want all the people and entities of our planet represented. This is important !” Lyman eller said.
” Why me? There are others in the e.h that could fulfil thr duties of the engineer !”the colnel said. “Not with your sature! You are the most notted enginer in eroupe perhaps the most noted European satesman. I need credibility. You provide that!”lyman said.
“I am not suportive of space exploration at least. Not at this time. Down the road maybe. Not now! “He said.
“The debate is over sir. We are going ! You can come or not! I do not care either way! “Corner styles said.
“I am not interested. You will have to find someone else!” The frenchman said. “Is that your final answer ?”styles asked. “Yes it is! “He said. “We can’t stun him with a lazzer and force him to go. It is his chioce ! ” eller said. The two left.
The man just stood there. His wife came over. “What was that all about?”she asked. “They wanted me to join there space exploration mission ! I declined!” He said.

“Mr. Eller! The united earth space probe agency has signed on.they want lt. Bryce shumar to be first officer!”ann grayson,ellers asistent said.
“I know shumar ! I served with him when i was in uspa. He is a good man. I am ok with it. ” Styles said. ” Very well ! Inform uspa command to send lt. Shumar To the shipyard. ” Eller said. “Will do!” Ann said. “I gues i better get over there myself !’styles said.
“I wish i could go in space ! I dare not risk it with my health so i will do it vicariously though your reports so be therough. “Eller said. “I will sir. You have my word!”he said. “When you leave earth,history will be made. Nothing will be the same. Life for humanity will be foever altered. The new fronter will have bean open. You are the new columbus!”eller said. “I will make you proud sir!”styles said. “Of that i have no doubt !” Eller said.
Anartica
Lt. Bryce shumer went by shartle from uspha headquarters in sanfrancisco to the shipyard owned by eller industries. “Nervous sir?”the pilot asked. “Not nervous but it is overwhelming though. I have spent most of my life in space. To go out beyond the rim. Wow!”he said.
The co pilot presed a button. A hiden base in the ice apeared. Thr craft entered the hanger bay.they saw the x 10000. “Is that it?”shumar said. “Indeed it is welcome to the future ! ” the pilot said. The craft went to a hatch. The ship attached itself to the vessel. “The pod is docked!”the pilot said.
Shumar got up. He excited the traval pod and entered the ship. “Welcome abored ! I’m kelly Anderson senior helmsman! I have supervised the final stages of the stake down. “He said.
” This crew suports a standered compliment of 46?”shumar said. “Give or take! Yes. Most of the compliments is manned. We stil need an armory officer, engineer ,comunications and medical but i have an idea for medical !”renelds said.
“I’m listening! “The man said. “My wife kelly is one of the leeding general practionors on earth. She has served in private practice as well in the uspha medical corps. ” renelds said.
“Your wife’s name is kelly?”shumar asked. “Yes sir ! “He said.”i will look over her resume. It will up to captain styles !”shumar said. “Yes sir! Of course!”the pilot responded.
Bridge
Shumar entered the bridge .the bridge was smal. “Where is the captain’s chair?”shunar asked.”we do not have one! We had a prety tight budget. We did not design one. We did we just did not include it in the final cut!” Renelds said.
“This is science oficer,sivola !”renelds said. “A vulcanian!”shumar said. “I grew up on earth. I am a discendent of one of the first vulcan who arived to aid the human transition to space age !”she said.”it is good to have you abored!” Shumar said. “It is agreible to be abored!”she said.
Shumar looked around the bridge. It was compact but eficient. This was going to be quite an adventure. Soon it would begin.

Lyman eller the industrialest and entrapinur kept to a tight schedule. He was up at 5:00, in the office at six. He left the office at 9:00,in bed by ten. Normally at this time of night he would be in bed. This was not a usual event.
He stayed in an apartment right next to the company headquarters. He did not want to be too far away from the office . He wanted it seperate from the headquarters. Eller went to the office.
“Sir! The echo star setilite has stoped transmitting. Every atempt to reactivate it has falled!”operations chief gary corban said.
” This setilite has multiple reduntcies. This was not suposed to happen ! “Eller said. “We don’t get it either! Sir!” Corben said. ” This area represents the gateway to the new fronter. The last charted sector. This setilite was the key to there reigion. ” Eller said.
” Sir! We need to investigate ! “Corner styles said. “Lunch another probe!” Corben said. “That is not what i am sugesting mr. Corben !”styles said. “What are you sugesting ?” Dr. Amy lutrel asked. “The x 1000 ! “Styles said. ” You can’t be serious ! The x 1000 is not a viable option!”corben said. ” the future of humanity exploration of space depands on information . The probes and setilites have brought us a long way. They can only bring us so far !”styles said.
“we have had this conversation before. We may not be a cash society any more. We do depend on resorces. It is more fesible to use probes. “Corben said.
  ” Something caused the setilite to stop transmitting. We have to find out what has caused it!”styles said. “Some day man will venture out. We are not there yet! ” corben said.
“This is the time. “Styles said. “We are stil rebuilding from the third world war. Man is united more then ever. Things are better for humanity but we stil have a ways to go. ” gary corben said.
Eller thought it over. He went to a far off corner of the command center of the cooperation. He routinly withdrew to a distent corner when facing a difficult situation. Every one knew to give him space. After a few seconds,he returned to the main part of the room.
“How soon can we lunch the x 1000 ?”lyman said. “Well the ship is ready to go but it is not fully maned. It has a skeliton crew. It has not been though a full skakedown!” Corben said.”nothing like a trial by fire! ” eller said.
“Are we really doing this?” Dr. Lutrel asked. “We are amy!” Eller said. ” We don’t have the personele ! ” Corben said. “We can get the staf from outside !” Eller said. “Where? ” corben asked. “We will ask the united earth space probe agentcy for help and orthers including the eropian hagemony! Styles said.
“The europian hagemony! They are competitors!” Corben comented. ” Not anymore! “Styles said. “Look i love the European hagemony ,i have wished them well. I did want to crush them in two areas. Space exploration and hocky. I am wiling to give on one of those aspirations. “He said.
“I recomend we reach out to former European military enginer jose marie parizeu. “Styles said.
” He is resonible ! Do we want to include them ?” Corben said.”we have to . We need the man power. Eller industries was created to fulfil the dreams of people like zefrem cocren,Jeremy greyson,john burk,silvia lenored and orthers. This is our time ! This is the eve of the human adventure. This is the time! “Corner styles said.
Lyman eller gave it some thought. ” Why not!  Clark contact the various players. Make it happen !” Eller said.
Unknown ship
” i have ananilized the data excellentcy ! The setilites belong to people called humans from a planet called earth. ” The techician said.
” earth ! Where the heck is earth?” The commander said. “I not sure!”he said. “Could we be looking at a new player in universal afairs?”he asked.
“Possible ! The data is scientific.any of this data could be used in straitigic planing. “The science oficer said. “Do we know where the probe sent ita signal?”the commander asked. He noded in the afirmitive. 
The commander knew what must be done. The ship would engage this race in battle. Evaluate them as a potential enemy. The clash was about to begin.

Space! No one knew just how vest it was. Just how big it was not known. It had been speculated but no one knew for sure.
That was why mankind was out hear. To explore the unknown. To learn more about the galaxy. They have much to learn. They would not have it any orther way.
First mankind became curious about there seroundings. They sought to explore and conquer at times. Then the exploration of the planet. Then the next step was space! 
It was nearly a hundred years sense mankind developed warp drive. They had begun to slowly develop a space fleeet. It took time.
There had been various operations designed to brench out beyond the confines of earth and near by regions. It had been slower then they wanted it to be.   Many humans  prefered maned exploration but unmanned exploration though undesired but necessary.  The earth space probe agency found it easier to lunch. They lunched fleets of probes.
There were some who argued for unmanned only. Many disagreed with that. Besides probes,setilites were also put into place. They provided a lot of valuable data.

” Sir! The echo star setilite just stopped transmitting ! ” a techinician said. “See if you can’t get it back!”the supervisor instructed the tek. The tek got right to work.
The setilite was being blocked by a dampening field. When they were sure that the field was in place,a ship came in. The vessel came in.
“Gain acess to that data! I want it! ” the commander said. The tek was able to hack into the setilite. He reported the sucessfull upload. Then the vessels opened fire on the setilite. The setilite exploded.
The unknown vessel went to warp. The debre remaned. The disapearence of the setilite created quite a mystery. One that would have to be solved.
