Kelly’s day part 7

  The x came along side the ship.the x activated a conecting hatch.the lock was activated.
Boyd led a camando unit of highly trained security and tactical experts. Many of them had paticipated in action against pirates.
Kelly incisted on leading the team herself. Her husband was not a big fan of it though. She wanted to see this thing though to the end.
The team headed to the hatchway conecting the two ships. The marines used a cuting tool to pry oppen the hatch.
On the other side the orions were wating for them. Manny had plasma rifles and orther weapons ready to schot.
The hatch was breached. The commandos stormed the ship. The orion imidiatly opened fire on the x strike team. The team fired back.
As kelly fired,a flood of memories came back. She remembered how she felt the day the orions changed her life foever. Now it would all be different. Today she was taking the fight to them.
She fired on the nearest orion. He fired on every one she saw.to the orthers it was just a mission. To her this was a cause. This was personal. This was pay back.
She hit back with an increased furocity. A sniper hit her.she dodged the attack. She tried to determine the location of the sniper. She fired. The rifle hit the sniper. The sniper fell to the ground.
This brought back memories for boyd. He had paticipated in operations like this. He had been involved in border patrol before being hired by eller industries. He had encountered the orions on several ocasions.
Kelly was fired on but held her ground. She was determined to not go down. Not like this. That would not happen today. She was determined that would not happen.
The rest of the team hit back as well. Steveren could not believe he was hear. He had not been involved in a fire fight for quite a while. It was all coming back to him.
The team atempted to advance. They kept going. They tried to break though the enemy lines.
The orions were firce fighters.they were agresive by nature.they were traned to be fighters,soldjers  and mercinaries. The orions were trained in coventional and gurila warfare.
  The team were not as well traned but were determined. They wanted to stop these pirates. They fired and fired. They were able to advance.
They got out of the area and got further into the ship. They were hit as well. They hit back.
There was a fire fight at every turn. The two forces wanted to destroy the orther. The bulies were now being bulied.
Usually kelly was a pacifist.she was a doctor a healer. She had a healer’s heart. This was different. The orions exposed something in Her that normally laid dorment. Ordinarily she would never act like this. Today all bets were off. She would fight with all her might.
Steveren was a bit concerned by all this. He had doubts about the mission.  He was not ready to sate his views or turn against the commander.
Boyd has his doubts but was not as skeptical as his andorian friend. He did have some concern. That was not for now.those questiones could be examoned later after the battle.
The x sent reinforcements. The x had a crew of forty. They did not have an abudence of manpower but did what they could . Manny were not soldjers but trained in non military specities. Everyone got basic military traning.
Some of the strike teams tried to hold on to the beach head. The rest tried to advance. Kelly had a different goal. She wanted to get to the bridge. She had a score to settle.
She tried to get to the bridge. She took risks.she had several close calls. It did not deter her.not in the least. This was a cause.she would meat this goal.
She entered the bridge. Steveren made sure to folow her.he had to keep a close eye on her and he did.
Then she saw him. He was older.he was more grilzed but it was him. The memories flooded back. So did her anger.
“You! ” she declared. ” do i know you!”ontep said in an increduous tone. “You killed most of my family !”she said.”i have killed a lot of families. You can’t expect me to remember every family!” The man said.
She knew that he was trying to goad her. She tried to resist his provication. “They were people ! They were farthers,morthers,brothers sisters,husband wives,siblings. How dare you ?”she said.
“There are only so many resources to go around! This creates conflict!”ontep said. She tried to strike him but boyd tried to convince her not to. The orion admiral laughed.
“So puney! So weak so fragile ! “The man said. “Seal off the bridge ! “She ordered. “Your a long way from home little girl! Hunanity is not made for deep space! Your cargo fleet barly made it in your home turf!”he said. They laughed.
  ” humanity will make the stars there home. Humanities presence will felt from earth all the way to the farthest reaches of the galaxy!” She said.
“My people won’t let that happen! Just as your family was killed,that will be repeated time and time again ! Your only chioce is to cower back to earth. “He said.
“That won’t happen ! We are commited to exploring the stars! “She declared. “You say that now! You may change your mind when whole colonies return in body bags! “He said.
He was trying to bait her. She wanted to kill him just then. Would she? Would she sucomb to her anger?
She started to head to strike him. Boyd started to restrain her.she backed off. The orion leader was yucking this up.
“We won’t yield. We won’t give up. We will endure and thrive!”she declared. “Your people mayby. You personaly? Not a chance. You won’t get out of this room alive!”he said. “We are stil hear right now!” She told him.
The orions tried to retake the ship. They engaged x forces whenever they saw them. Fighting was all over the ship. The x crew was outnumbered. They would not give up.
The orions would make this as uncomfortable as possible. They did this all the time. They just did not give up. They kept fighting. They forced the government to make some kind of conceson. Kelly would not do that. That was not her style.
The bridge had been held so far.the x crew were determined to hold it. Kelly was determined to keep ontep.
“You are a fool!”ontep said.”i am not the one under gaurd ?”she said. “No one restraints me. You have me under gaurd only because i alow you to. I am no one’s prisoner!”he declared.
She took out a hand lazer. She aimed it at him. Boyd took notice.she aimed it at him.”if i kill you does that meen you alow it! “She asked.
He went for her weapon. She struck him. She flew him across the room. She aimed the gun ar him.
“You won’t pull the trigar. Its not In your nature. Your good and kind and sweet. You won’t do it!”he declared.
She put it to her head. “Captain!”boyed said. “Even if you would pull the triger,your crew won’t let you do it.”he said.”You kill and kill. I think you enjoy it!”she said. “I do! I am not done yet! I am about to finish the job! ” he said.
Kelly started to fire. Boyd took out his pistol.”stand down mam!”boyd said. Ontep laughed. “You are so disorganized. You don’t have a chance in space !”ontep said.
She was about to fire. He laughed. She stood down. He continued to laugh. “I knew you did not have it in you!” He said. “Boyd take charge hear!” She ordered. “Alright !”he said.
“Oficial log,doctor renelds in command. I have turned over the orion ship and crew over to the devosian authorities. We are heading back to narisa”
Bridge
“So the mission was a lie?” Steveren asked. “Yes!”kelly ann said. “You lied to us. You used us!”boyd commented. “Prety mutch yes!”she said.
“Now entering orbit!” Kelly w anounced. ” The shartle pod is heading right for us!” Tivora said.”the vessel is requesting permission to come abored!”trajaten said. “Permission granted!”kelly said. “Sending!”the com officer said.
“I would like to greet the captain personaly. Boyd you have the bridge!” She said. “Understood !”he said.
The pod docked. The captain excited with his two officers. The captain ordered the two to go on to the bridge. They went on.
“I yield command to you!”she said. “I releve you!”he said. “I stand releved. I take full responsibility for all this. Please direct any disiplinary action to me!”she said.
“several in uspha command want you sent back to earth and bared from any international space eforts. The old man went to bat for you! Your a good doctor. You are on probation for a while doctor. While not on duty you will be confined to qurters for thirty days. I will be keeping a close eye on you'”he said.
“Very well!”she said. “I trusted you. It is going to take a while before i trust you again ! “Styles said. “I understand!”she said.
“It was a bad call. This was about vegience. There is no room for vengeance in the world we have to create. “He said.
“I see that now!”she said. “That will be all!” He said. She left the area. He looked out to the stars. He hoped that mankind could overcome there nature. He was not sure.

Kelly’s day part 6

“Personal journal,lt. Kelly wyane renelds reporting. I have known kelly for almost 9 years now. I have never known her to be impulsive. I have never known her to do anything out of mallice. This is unlike her”
“I could be wrong. Maybe she is acting on the captain’s orders. Something does not add up! I can’t believe she would lie. I can’t get this feeling of unease to go away! I gues we will see!” He said.
He decided to wait until his shift was over. He did not want to make any kind of a scene. He was hoping that he was wrong.  It did not make sense.
Finally his shift was over. He got up and left the bridge. He went to his qurters. After a few minutes,the acting captain came in.
“Kell what’s going on?”he asked.”what do you meen?”she asked.”i would never say it in front of the crew or the command staf but i have to wonder. “He said.
“Wounder what?”she asked. She apeared to not know what he was talking about. He figured she did know but would not make a big deal about it.
“Why was there no message from the captain? Something as crucial as this,i think that he would have left a tape or something. “Wyane said.
“There was no time!”she said.”this does not seam right kell! I have never doubted you. This does not seam right! Styles is not the type to go half cocked. A decleration of war on the orions. What are you doing ?”he asked.
“What are you saying k? Are you really acusing me of creating my own policy. Waging a private little war? “She asked.
“I don’t know. You said it i didint. “He said. “Humanity will not be able to reach towards the stars until the orions are dealt with!”she said.
“Did the captain order you to this?”he asked. “Yes he did. He got clearence from the old man.i am prety sure president Alexander is in the loop!” She said. “To aprove action like this makes no sense. We are one ship.no backup. It does not seam right!”he said.
” We have no choice! The stakes are too high! “She said. “I can’t believe that styles ,eller or president Alexander would go for this let alone come up with this! ” Kelly w said.
” they did. I need every one to support me including you!” She said. “You have my support. I am thinking out loud. “He said.”very well!”she said. That ended the conversations.
Bridge
“We need to isolate the command ship from the rest of there fleet!”she said. “I believe i can handle that. The mines we aquired from the galidariens. The mines cause the inercial disperity. Then they explode. It creates a perfect storm !” Steveren the andorian said.
“How many do we have?”kelly a asked.”we have 14. “Tivora reported. “Just enough! “She said.
“As i recal both captain styles and commander shumar were reluctant to use them! This is quite a change!” Trajaten said.
“He only agreed to the perchase because of the looming threat of the romulans. “Boyd said.
“This is a huge threat. He sees that and so do I. Mr. Boyd have the mines standing by. “The acting captain said. “Aye sir!”boyd said.
Kelly wyane knew that every one probably had the same doubts he did. No one would say it out loud. No one was ready to act.
All of the preperations were put into place. The crew raced to have the ship ready.
Bridge
“All decks standing by!”tivora said. “Lets go find um!”the acting captain ordered. The ship went to warp.
They located the orion fleet. They had regrouped. They were going to figure out what they would do next.
Unoticed to the orion fleet,the mines had been deployed. The mines were smal and non descript. Kelly let them lay dorment for a while. She wanted to lull the orions into a false sence of security. It seamed to be working.
The mines activated. The ships began to be caught in the atmospheric wake. Then the mines exploded.
The x flew at warp speed towards the orion command ship. The x fired a multiple voleys of projectiles at the orion flagship.
The x hit them from all all sides.the orion ship fired back on the x. Several decks were hit. The impact spread though several decks.
Crewman on those decks sheltered in place. The crew had experienced battles before. It never got easier.
The damage control teams got to work. They had to work while the battle was stil ongoing. The name of the game was to keep the ship in one peace during the battle.
The x fired back on the orion ship. The x fired multiple projectiles on the warship. The impact spread though several decks.
The orion ship’s were superior to the x. The crew of the x was very resourceful. They would not give up. The x tried to ware away the shields of the hostile vessel.
The orther orion ships tried to get away from the minnes. The ships eventually did get pass the mines.
Orion vessel
“I have located the detair! “The science officer said. “It was an ambush. There target was the detair. “The weapons officer said.”they wanted to isolate the flagship !”another bridge officer said.
“Order the fleet to withdraw! We will regroup at sector 46. “The commander anounced.
“Sir! What of the detair? Its contains our district supervisor? “The science officer said.
“No one person in our organization is vital. Every one is expanible. The future of the organization is all that matters!” The commander said.
The real reason is that the commander,herzed wanted ontep’s job. Like orginized crime in earth’s American nation sate in the 1920’s,crime boses advanced by taking out there predasors.
Ontep was a very powerful figue in the orion organization. Ontep was a member of the orion general staf. Ontep fell into disfavor. They could not fully get rid of him so he gave him a fronter asignment.
The ship commanders knew all this. They would not deal with him at first. They would wait for the right opportunity to move against him. This was that chance.they did not have to do it. All they had to do was to sit back and let it happen.
The orion fleet went to warp.the fleet ran away. The vessels headed to one of the randevez site. They would go from there.

“Sir! The fleet is leaving us!”the science officer reported. “We are being abandoned!”an officer said. “How dare they!”the first officer said.
“We will deal with there trechery later!”ontep said. The orion vessel focused on the x.
“There fleet left the area!” Tivora reported. “I thought they might. His own ilk have no great love for him. They leave at the first opportunity. He has no real support !”Kelly said.
The x went back at the warship.Kelly had a plan. She was going to make ontep pay. He would answer for his actions.

“There has been no sign of your ship! “An officer said. ” they don’t answer our hail!”another said. “Do you think that they were destroyed?”perizu said.”i don’t know. “Styles said.

Kelly’s day part five

The x and the cargo vessels headed into the nebula. The enemy ships were still persuing. The x and the other ships still headed in.
“We are almost inside!”tivora said. “Your sure the
y won’t follow us in?” Boyd asked. “I’m sure lt!” She said. The vesels went inside. The ships were all fully inside the nebula.
The bridge crew waited on pins and needles. “Take us in futher helm!”Kelly ann ordered. The ships did so.
The orion vessels got closer. At the last second,they veered off. The vessels left the area. The ships went in a different direction.
“Vessels are not persuing!”tivora reported. “Lets get these ships to safty!” Kelly in command said. The crew got to work.
Ontep was considered one of the most celebrated leaders in the orion fleet.  He was loved by his men but feared by his superiors. He was a warior. He was also supersticious. He could not would not enter a nebula. It might seam fool hardy or even cowardly. He would not go there.
A few minutes early. The ships got closer.  The ships kept going. “Reverse course! “Ontep said.
“We are not going to persue?”the first officer asked.”no! “Ontep said.Manny of the crew agreed with ontep. “There will be other cargo!” Ontep said.

“You were corect!”steveren said.”you doubted me ?”kelly ann said.” No of course not!”the andorian said. “Lets get this fleet home “she said.
Planet naris
The captain was getting very full. It seamed that it was it was considered inpolite not to eat a lot. Styles was prety sure that thowing up was also considered not acording to protical. He just wanted to stop. He was not sure he could. He hoped he could and soon.
He had no idea that the x was gone. He had no idea that his ship and crew were in jepordy at the hands of the orion pirates.
Mercifly naris society had protical for every thing. The narisien society did not engage in engorgegement but in a controled situation. Eventually the narisien protical nesasitated the end of eating. A situation that made styles and his stomich happy.
Under nariasian law,during an oficial function the speaker was not to be desturbed except in a dire emergentcy.  Apearently the x leaving orbit did not fall under that.
  A chime rang indicating a change of activity.  Off room activity could be conducted. The door opened,an aid entered and went over to the speaker. The aid wispered into the ear of the leader. The leader spoke back and fouth with the aid. Then after a brief exchange,the aid left the room. The door closed.
The speaker went over to the captain. “Captain. There has been an unusual development!” The speaker said. Styles had no idea what it was. He did not expect that.

  Captain styles and his two senior officers entered the control room. “Captain! This is admiral palaered. “The speaker said.
“This is what we know. Lt ..”palered ordered. “The ship left orbit suddenly. There was no anoucement as to why they left. There was no orther comuminication between us and your vessel!” The lt said.
“Where did they go?” Peruzu asked. “To a near by sector. “The lt responded. On the display table was the sector and some coresponding data on the sector.
“We lost tract of the vessel. It is curently out of range!”another tech commented. “Before it went off our radar,it was engaged in a battle with raders!”a third tech anounced.
“Raders? What kind of raiders?”shumar asked. “They are usually used by orions!”a tech said. “Orions!”styles said. Oh no he thought.
He peaced every thing together.he did not like the sound of this. This was not good. Not good at all.
“Medical log, the x 1000 has sucesfully docked at derosen station 199.4. The cargo has arived safely. The cargo is being off loaded without incident. ”

“I’m sory to go off like that sir. I did see that i had any other choice. They were in danger.  “She said.
“I probably would have done the same thing. I need you to head back to narisa!” Styles said. “Of course sir!”she said. “I will see you then!”he said.
Military complex
“She did the right thing'” shumar said. “She did every thing right up to this point. The problem is what happens after this point!” Styles said. “She is going to return to narisa. We get back to the ship. Go off bodly where no one has gone before. All is good!”perizu said. “I hope so! “He said.
He would not say so out loud. He had his doubts. He feard that her need for justice over her past might cold her judgement. He would give her a chance to prove him wrong. He had an ache in the pit of his stomich.
Kelly paused after her conversation with the captain ended. She knew her orders. Could she let this go? He would not stop. This would not end. He was not that kind of person. So many lives upended by this man.
“You don’t have the guts to take me on! Your a child! A little girl. Your no better then an orion female!  A slug would have an easier time defeating me then the likes of you!” Ontep said in a day dream.
“I am not afraid of you!”Kelly said. “You should be! So many have tried to do what you intend to. I am stil hear and they are not!”he said. 
She decided what she would do.she knew this was difficult but she felt she had to. She wanted him stoped. Could she pull this off!
Bridge
“I spoke to the captain. He is quite concerned by the rise of the orions. He feel that this will endanger future human comerce and exploration. Our orders are to persue the orions. We are going to break up there operation in this sector!”she said.
” the captain ordered this?”steveren asked. “It was his idea!” She said. “Will he be joining us?”boyd asked. “No time! We have to get on this now or it might be too late. “She said. 
The bridge crew was schocked. “Helm set course for the last known location for the orion fleet!”she said. The ship was off.

Kelly’s day part four

“Personal journal,myself and my two senior most officers are sitting down to lunch with the members of the narisian parliament witch includes the leader of the government ,the speaker of the parliament. We are sitting at the head table witch includes the most senior members of the government.”
“Captian,i understand this is your first visit with a foregn head of sate sense you left home port?”the speaker asked.”yes mr. Speaker,that is true. I am pleased that narisia is our first visit with a foregn leader!” Captain styles said.
“I assume that earth will be lunching more ships?” Minister of defense asked. “Yes that is corect! We are working on building the x class vessel and down the road more advanced ships. “Commander perizu said.
“Is this a military ?”foregn minister eshella asked. “No mam! We are a space exploration force. We do use a military hierarchy but we are exploration. We are under the auspicises of a private cooperation. “Commander shumar said.
“Your planet stil has nation states?”trade minister dereva asked. “Madom minister,the planet is negotiating a united government. We have a frame work. It is not fully implimented yet!” Styles said.
“What is the goal of your mission ?”government leader emek asked. “We wish to learn of other cultures. We wish to build relationship with other worlds. We are curious by nature.we want to otherstand orthers. We believe that is important. ” Styles said.
“I see. I too as curious. Your world has peaked my curiosity captain. I hope to visit your world one day!”the speaker said.”i will pass that along to president Alexander. “Styles said.
“Supose a world ask you to leave! “Leader of the opisistion derkang asked. “We would be obligated to leave! “Styles said.” What if a world has a resource you wanted or neaded. What if that world was unwilling to trade!”derkang asked.
“Mr. Leader we are not imperialist or pirates. We will do not take what we cannot get!” Mr. Perizu said. “There was a time you were? ” minister dereva asked. “Yes that is corect!”captain styles answered.
“As i understand,your planet very nearly destroyed a hundred years ago?”health minister asked. “Yes but in that time we have an unprecedented era of peace!”shumar said. “The term unprecedented is quite concerning!” The eldest member of the parliament styled the most hounerable member said. “A lot of things have changed. We are different. We are not going to return to our old ways! “Perizu said. “How can you be sure?”derkag asked. “We cannot to a total certainty!” Shumar said.

“We have incoming!” Boyd anounced. “Evasive action !”kelly ann temporarily in command ordered. The x tried to veer out of the way. The ship zigged and zaged. The mistle exploded. The ship dodged the impact.
The x fired on the nearby ship. The x fired a multiple volley on the closest warshp. A destroyer fired on the x. The x was hit but the fireing was confined to the near aft.
The x hit back and fired masive volleys on one of the nearby warship. One of the cargo ships followed suit and fired on the warship.

“that ship. It is from the planet earth isint it?”ontep asked in a qausi rhetorical mannor. “Confirmed excellentcy!”the weapons officer said. “I never forget a species. Especially one like this! “Ontep said.
“They should know better then to meddle in things that do not concern them! “The first officer said. “You are correct!”the commander said.
The flagship flew pass the other ships. It headed right for the earth ship. The vessel fired on the x.
The x could feel the impact on the ship. It reverberated thoughout the ship. It impacted the bridge. “Shields at 57 percent !” Boyd anounced.
Kelly recognized the style of the attacks. She found it hard to believe that the man who killed her family would stil be on active duty. She was sure it was him. She just felt that it was him.
The x flew at the enimy ship. The vessel hit multiple volleys on the warship. The x may be out manned and out gunned. Kelly refused to acept that. She would fight on no matter what.
The cargo ships hit the enimy ships as well. Kelly started to develop a plan to help the cargo ships get a way. 
“Trajaten get me the lead ship of the cargo fleet!”kelly anne ordered. Trajaten hailed the flagship of the murchent fleet.
“Captain! I have an idea on how to get your flotila to safety but your not going to like it!” Kelly said. “I don’t mutch like what we are doing now!” He said. Then she told him the plan. 
The smaler cargo ships atempted a withdraw. They were covered by several biger vessels and the x. ” Fools!  they have to know they  have to know they will never make it!  ” Ontep said.
The x flew at high warp and operated in a dive bomb like raid. The x fired and ran on the nearby vessel. It then went to another ship and fired multiple times.
The bigger more powerful ships worked to cover the smaler veasels. It was not clear if the plan would work. They were hopfull.
The bigger ships focused on obe ship and hit it. The x focused on hiting every one. A kind of special teams like in american foot ball. The smaler more vanerable ships tried to get away.  The x ran interference for the vessels.
The orions tried to stop them. The x was relentless. They were undetered. “Hit um hard and hit them often!” Kelly said.
Kelly wyane was surprised by the words of his wife. She was the kindest person he ever knew.this was unlike her. She was almost like a different person. She almost seamed to be enjoying it.
Flashback
  ” My parents are dead!” Kelly said. “I did not know. I’m sorry!” He said. “It happened a few years ago.i don’t like to talk about it! ” she said. “I can understand that! I can’t imagine it. Losing mutch of your family ! “He said. “You don’t get over it! At least i have not!” She said.
Another flashback
” i wish i could find those who caried out that attack and get justice!” She said. “You don’t meen that. Revenge is never a good idea. It never goes well! ” he said.
The rest of the convoy tried to run interference so that the orthers could get away. The x was determined to keep the enemy from getting to the smaler more vanerable ships.
The x was hit from the flag. “Shields at 45 percent !” Boyd reported. “Find me a weakness ! “Kelly ann ordered. Boyd scaned the ship. He found a smal device and targarted it.
“They have knocked out one of our secondary sansor relays! It is weaking havok with our systems. “The science officer said.
  One of the cargo ships unleshed a berage of plasma projectiles at the flagship. The x folowed suit and fired on the flagship. Two frigates came at the x. The x dodged the attacks. The x was safe this time.
“Is there a nebula nearby?” The acting captain asked.”yes there is!” Tivora said. The doctor in command went over and looked over the data on the nebula. “Tel the ship to head for the nebula. The orions are superstitious. They won’t follow us in. They believe it to be haunted. “Kelly the acting captain declared.
“Not every orions believe in that superstition. “Tivora said.”yes! That is correct!”trajaten said.”this one does !” The ‘captain’ said. “Are you sure?” Steveren asked. “Yes!”she said.

She remembered fleing and seing ontep. She saw him ordering the bodies be placed in statis. She did not understand why. Later she was told that many orions believed that if the newly deceasd were not encased,there sprits would esape and haunt the living. She hoped she was right. She believed that she had ontep peged. She knew who this man was. Would she be proven right?

Kelly’s day part three

“Personal journal,myself,commander shumar and chief engineer perizu have arived at the narisian parliament. We have been invited into the parliament hall. We have met the speaker and are now siting down to dinner. ”
The captain and his staff followed the speaker and his staff. Acording to tradition the speaker and his enterage and his guest are brought into an inner chamber. Then they were brought to the sate dining room of the parliament.
“Ok oficial decorum states that the parliamentary security go first. The chief of the security goes last. The youngest member goes first. Unless the youngest two are the same age then it goes by mouths. ” The protical advisor said.
“I take it the youngest are seen as more vanerable!” Perizu said. Styles gave the engineer a dirty look. The protocal chief was not too impresed by the comment.
The speaker was not brothered by it. He chuckled. “Prety much. I dont view it that way!” The speaker said. “I started out as the first man. These days it is mostly syimbolic!”the head of the speaker’s detail said. The phrase mostly was probably not too comforting.

The three got the impreson that these people were all about the protical. They totally stuck to protical in an extremely rigid fashion. Styles woundered if earth and naros could be alies or even have normal relationship.
He would try to keep an oppen mind. This mission had already clued him into an important truth. Any contact with alien worlds would be difficult. These were different worlds. Different cultures background and laungreges. The universial translator might not work in every case.  What if the device can’t translate an idiom in a way that can be clearly understood?  It was just one of the unanswered questiones. Styles would give it a chance.

Bridge
“X 1000 log, doctor renelds curently in command. The ship is curently in orbit of the planet. All is going well. ”
  “All is qiet! ” boyd said. “Almost too qiet!” Kelly wyane said. ” Are you bored?” Steveren asked. The pilot laughed and reaplied,”maybe a little bit!” He said. “Be careful what you wish for!”dr kelly said. “I know !” He responded.
“Captain! I am picking up a distress call! It is a from a near by sector!” Trajaten reported. “Let’s hear it!” Dr. Kelly ordered.
The alien com officer transferred the audio mesege to the main bridge audio. “This is the freighter redet representing dorian two. We are part of a merchent convoy. Our convoy is under attack by the orions. We need imidiate attention !” The captain said.
“Orions!” She commented. She remembered that name well. As a child she heard the name sense she was very young. She had been afraid of them for as long as she could remember. Then she saw them first hand.
  Flashback
“Uncle dale why do the Orions hate us?” A young kelly asked. He huged his neice. ” It is not that they hate us personaly. They dont know us. I don’t know but i suspect that it is not personal. It is about power. The Orion have become a force by raiding ships. It is a kind of might makes right. “He said.
“They are wiling to hurt others to make there life better?” She asked. “Unfortunately yes. We humans were like that not long ago!” He said. “Are there all bad people out there?”she asked. ” No we have encounter good people and i believe more are out there!” Her uncle declared.
“You can confirm that this is the Orions?” She asked. “Confirmed. The ship’s design and configuration fully matched the known design of the Orions. ” Boys declared. Steveren looked it over. “I concer captain!” The andorian said.
“Kel set course for the convoy!” Trajaten inform the convoy that we are on our way! “Kelly ordered.
“Your not serious! The orions are not your run of the mil pirates. They are a traned and disiplined army and navy. We are one ship. We hardly have the meens to imobolize the orions!”steveren declared.
“We can work with orthers who may answer the distress call or with the convoy. We have to help! I will not sit by and do nothing !” She declared.
“Setting course!”the pilot,her husband declared. He ajusted the course. “Course set!” Kelly wyane reported.
“Sending our response to the convoy! ” trajaten reported. “This is a huge mistake captain!  We are ill equpied to deal with basically a foregn power. This is crazy!”sreveren said.
“I am in command until the captain returns. In that capacity i have isued an order. My decision is final. Is that clear civilian asvisor steveren?” Kelly ann asked.
Steveren decided that he had better back down. He did so. He decided not to challenge the acting captain.
The x 1000 left the area. The ship went to warp. It headed for the convoy. They tried to get there as soon as they could. She hoped that she would get there in time. She hoped that they would not be too late.
Convoy freighter
The orion vessels continued to pummel the convoy. The convey did there best to opose the orions.
“A ship is on there way?” The com tech said. “Only one ship?” The first officer asked. “One is better then none i sapose.mayby more will come in time!”the captain said. The captain tried to apear hopeful.in truth he was very concerned.
He was not sure they could hold out before help arived.they were eaqualy not as sure if only only ship arived, would it be enough?
The x headed as fast as they possibly could. The ship finally arived. The x opened fire on the orion ships.
“One ship? I am really afraid now!” Ontep said in a tone designed to mock. The crew followed suit. “Return fire!” The commander ordered.

kelly’s day part two

The x 1000 flew out to warp space. The vessel neared a planet. The earth ship came out of warp and assumed standered orbit.
“Captain’s personal journal,the x 1000 has arived at the planet narris four. T
The narisien speaker of the parliament has invited myself and a few of my senior staf to an oficial sate function. We are hoping to make contact with other words and forge good relations with orther worlds. We will be away from the ship for a few days. ”
Bridge x 1000
“I just realized we don’t have a dress uniform!” Captain styles said. “Hopfully they don’t stand on cerimony or they don’t notice!” Commander shumar said.
“Do i really have to go ? I am not much for pompt and circumstances !” Perizu said. “You ? A franchman! Don’t Frenchman love diplomacy?” Kelly wyane renelds asked. “Diplomacy yes. Diplomatic functions no!” Perizu said. “You need to attend. You are third in command and your the most senior officer from the European hagemeny. You need to be there!” Styles said. “Very well!” Peruzu said.
“If all three command officer are gone,who will command the ship in your absence?” Trajaten asked.
The door opened,doctor Kelly ann renelds entered the bridge. “Doctor renelds agried to command the ship in our absence. Sence the ship will be in orbit,i am not expecting any problems! “The captain said.
“As i understand military chain of command,she is a civilian is she not?”the andorian steveren asked. “Well as of now the x crew is a service of its own. No one is really a civilian on this ship. “Styles said.
“You have a problem with that mr. Steveren?” Kelly a asked. “No no! Not at all!” The andorian answered. “Good!” She said. She laughed.
“Well! We ought to be going. Shall we gentleman!” Styles asked. The two agreed. “Good luck doctor uh captain!” Styles said. She smiled.
Her husband the pilot smiled at his wife. She smiled back and winked at him. The three senior officers excited the bridge and entered the elivator. The elivator door closed.
She confidently sat down at the command chair. The command chair was not mutch. It was a simple folding chair. She could not believe this.
Her hapiness subsided for a moment when she remembered her farther. She remembered what happened to her farther and many in the crew of that freighter. She tried to push it aside. She focused on the task.at hand. The task of commanding the ship until the captain and the two senior officers returned.
  Elivator
“So why the doctor?” Peruzu asked. “She receved eller industeries basic space traning and uspha rapid officer traning. She has manned several bridge station including the pilots chair. She is a member of the senior staff. I want all of my crew to be able to perform multiple task on the ship including command. “Styles said.
The door to the elivator came open. The captain,first officer and chief engineer excited the elivator. They headed to the shartle birth.
The three walked to the smal birth. The hatch opened. The three entered the cramped pod.styles took the cock pit. He began the pre flight. The hatch opened and the pod excited the hanger. The pod headed for the planet.
“pod is away!” Science officer tivora reported. “Very well! Keep an eye on them until they land. I am not seing any trouble !”the doctor said. The bridge crew agreed.
The shartle emurged on the planet. It landed on an air strip reserved for off planet v.i.p. “traidition says we send a request to depart and wait until the oficial sumoning!” Shumar said. “Very well! Jose send the signal!” The captain ordered. The engineer sent the signal.
The comunicator beeped again. Perizu opened the cominicator.”this is the representives of the planet earth! We oficialy request admission to your world!” Peruzu said.
“Captain and senior officer,you are clear to enter our world. Welcome to narisa!’ The planets speaker of the assambly said.
The pod hatch opened. The two senior officers excited the shartle. The captain folowed the two officers. They walked to the front.
The two subordinates created a gap. The captain walked to near the cerimonial gaurds. “Mister speaker,i great you on behath of the people of earth. I am captain corner styles of the starship x 1000. It is an hornor to come to your world. ” styles said.
“I am shered gehar, i am grand speaker of the assambly for the narisian people! We are hornored by your visit!” He said.
Near narsian space
The orions had there tancticles every where. If they were not there directly ,they had proxies. The narisiens did not tolerate ilegal contraband transport though there space. The orions were shut out from narisien. They did operate near by.  They had a limited presence in the reigion but definently had a presence.
   The dorian sector had seven inhabited worlds out of nine. Three civilizations had early warp technology. The planets were just starting to trade between themselves. This provided an opportunity for the orions and there opritives.
The orions spent mounths studying them from afar. They learned all they could. They learned there trade routes. Now they were ready to strike.

“Everything is in place excellentcy!” Olarh said. “Very good! Begin the operation!”the commander said. It was ontep. He was older. He had several scars from past mission. He was stil strong,stil vital. Stil deadly.
The ships broke formation and fired on a convoy of ships. They left dorian four and were heading for dorian four. The orion vessels opened fire. The ships were hit. They returned fire. They were out gunned.
“What do we do?” A younger officer asked frantically. “Send out a distress call while we stil can. “The freighter captain ordered. The com officer sent the distress call. They all feared that it was going to fail. They hoped mayby someone would come to there rescue. Who would it be?

“Kelly’s day”

  Earth space
Earth trade routes
  The future kelly ann renelds,when she was 14 was abored a freighter with her family. Her farther was the captain. Her morther performed various task on the ship including engineer and medical officer.  She had an older brother who was already serving as part of the crew. She had younger siblings.
The freighter had done basically the same route for most of her life. The ship picked up freight at a space port delivered it then picked up more suplies at the base and did it over again.
Although the area was technicaly earth controled space ,it was not totally safe. At the time earth had a united government but it was not totally unified or oficial. There was a unified authority.
Human transports became vanerable to pirates. Some pirates raided human ships because they could. Orthers did it to arest ir hault human expansion. There were unafiliated pirates. There was also raids by orions and nusicans.
Unlike orther pirates,the orions were well orginized. They had teratory and a well displined military like force. 
The orions did not want human expansion. While human were not seen as a major threat to the old order yet,the orions did not want any challenge.
On the orion flagship,ontep looked over the bridge of the flagship. He was put in charge of the raids in what orions called teran space. The plan was carefully put together.
“Excellentcy! The final plan. We all feel that this is best!” The first officer tezek said. He looked it over. He was impresed with the plan.
“Order our commanders to procede with the plan!” Ontep said. “Verry good excellentcy. We will get right on it!” Tezek said. “Do we have a ship we can target? “Ontep asked. “Yes indeed we do! Cargo vessel north Hampton!” Lugic said.
  The north Hampton was the freighter that kelly was on. She never forgot that day. She never would. It started off as an ordinary day. It did not stay that way.
She got up. She had breakfast. She did some school work then went to the bridge. Sense her family ocupy several important jobs on the ship,it was no problem for her to be on the bridge.
She entered. Her dad was buisy confering with another crewmember. When the crewman dispersed,he saw her daughter.
“Hey kell!” Captain Edward Kaufman said. “Hi dad. “She said.”decided to take a break from your studies ?”he asked. “All i see right now is triginomic shapes!” She said.
He laughed. “I remember those days!” He said. “It is interesting stuf! I feel overwhelmed ‘”she said.
“I am detecting incoming ships! “A crewman named wells said.” Can you identify the ships ?”he asked. He was prety sure he knew who they are. He figured that they were some kind of alien raiding party.
The raiding party came into focus. “Orions! I should have known! ” Kaufman said.
  Otem wached the freighter. He actually enjoyed these raids. He was not a sadest but he liked the raids. He liked conducting these operations. He also looked foward to them. To him it was an adrenaline rush.
“Everyone is in place!” The sansor officer reported. “Begin the operation!” He ordered. “With plesure!” First officer tezek said.
The com officer isued the order.the ships broke formation and fired on the freighter. The projectile weapons hit the freighter.
The freighter returned fire on the orion ships. The freighters was no match for the orion ships. The orion vessel hit back on the freighter.
“Evasive action'” the captain ordered. The ship tried to get away from the orion ships. The orion set up a blokade.
  Kelly retreted to the back of the ship. She tried not to atract attention. She wanted to stay and see all of this.
The freighter went at warp trying to elude the ships.the orion ships overpowered the freighter.
The freighter was hit. The orion vesels fired on the engines. The shields held for a while. The orions were good at finding ways to deplete the shields. They were able to ware out the shields.
“Shields are off line!”a crewman said. The bridge is hit. The freighter kept going. The orions kept going. The orions fired on the ship.
The bridge was hit. Kelly tried to dodge the explosions. She ran to the wall. Part of the ceiling barly mished her. She just waited.
She crawled passed the debree. She saw most of the crew on the ground. She went over to her farther. He was bleading. She checked for a pulse. She did not find one. He was dead.
She cried and screamed. She could not believe this was hapening. She was scared,sad and angery all the same time. None of the other crew members were moving. Were they dead as well?
Several were dead. The first officer and helm were dead. Some were still alive. Manny were in bad shape. 
One of the ships docked on the ship and began to send a bording party to the ship. The orions first sicured the cargo bay. They loaded the flagship with the cargo.
While another ship came along side the orther side of the vessel. Another bording party stormed the ship. The raiders was led by ontep himself.
Bridge
The remaining bridge crew began to get up. Some were wounded. “We need to evacuate! Abandon ship !” Wells said.
The crew began to leave the bridge. Kelly just stood there. She was transfixed. She was in total shock. Wells went over to her.
“You need to get out of hear hunie! Come on!” Wells told her. She just stood there. Wells directed a female crewman to help her. They all left the bridge.
They headed for an esape pod birth. The crew ran and ran for the hatch. They heard a noise. They knew it was raiders.
Ontep and his team schot anything that he came into contact with.
Ontep and his team came on the freighter’s crewman. The team had lazers. Kelly was very frightened. The crewman tried to comfort her.
  Kelly had seen aliens before.this was different. She found ontep more fearful that anything she had seen before. She looked right at him. The image froze in her mind. She would continue to remember that face.
The female crewman tried to sneek away with Kelly. They tried to be qiet. Wells fired on the raiders. The rest folowed suit.
Ontep and his team fired back on the crew. Wells got off several schots before ontep cut him down. He fell to the ground.ontep fired a final time before he was killed.
  The orther orions fired on the crew. The crewman had kelly keep down. They crawled away. They tried to be as qiet as possible. They kept going. They made it away from the bording party.
They found several remnents of the crew. “We have to keep moving !”Her mom said. She huged her mom. Then they moved.
They neared an esape pod. There was a team of raiders. She saw him again. Ontem. The man who killed her farther,the man who killed most of the bridge crew. She wanted to kill him with her bare hands.
“Keep going !” Christina Kaufman said. “Mom no!” Kelly said. “Please you have to make it out!” Her morther said. Several provided cover. They fired on the orions. Kendra pulled kelly. They ran to the esape pod.
  Christina and several orthers tried to provide cover for them. They ran to the pod. A crewman opened the hatch. They ran in. “Come on!” A crewman pleaded.
The team got off a few more schots. Christina fired and admonished the team to go. She waited until the last minute and tried to go in. She was schot. Kelly screamed.
The pod had to lunch. The pod went away. The pod tried to hide. When the orions destroyed the ship. The pod hid under the debree. The orions moved on.
After days in space,the pod was recovered. Out of a crew of 34,not including 10 children,only 17 made it out. Kelly and three of her siblings servived. Her parents and a brother were killed.
  Kelly was raised by her grand parents on earth. She decided to go to med school. She was acepted to havered medical school. She maried a space explorer named kelly wyane renelds. Now she was medical officer on x 1000.
Kelly never forgot that day.she could not. She rarely talked about it. She could not sleep. She got up and went into the orther room. She looked at the stars.
